Reporting an emergency situation

  • At the Malibu campus and all other domestic University campuses, call 911. Then call the Department of Public Safety at (310) 506-4441.

Everbridge Emergency Notification System

Everbridge Mass Notification is the University’s emergency communication system.  The system allows the University to send a message to University faculty, staff and student cell, office, and home phones, as well as send text message, and email.  The system is only used at the discretion of the University’s EOC during major campus incidents, life safety emergencies, and for testing.  The system is dependent on the personal contact information provided by each individual in the WaveNet portal. The WaveNet portal data is uploaded into Everbridge on a weekly basis. Please ensure that your contact information is up-to-date by following the instructions below.

Student instructions:

  • In the middle of the page, there is a section labeled “Student Information.” Under this heading, click on “Preferred Phone.”
  • Verify and/or update your home and cell phone numbers, and click on the green “Save” box at the lower left of the page.
  • Click on “Emergency Contacts” at the top right of the page.
  • Verify and/or update your emergency contacts as necessary.
  • Click on the green “Save” box.

Faculty and staff instructions:

  • Log into WaveNet (http://wavenet.pepperdine.edu).
  • Click on “Staff Services” at the top left of the page, and select “Employee Self Service.”
  • Under “Personal Information” on the left side of the page, select “Phone Numbers.”
  • List your cellular, home and direct office numbers. The direct office number should be listed in the “Campus” field. Click “Save” at the bottom of the screen.
  • Click “Return to Employee Self Service” under the “Save” box.
  • Click on “Emergency Contacts” under the “Personal Information” section.
  • Include at least one emergency contact in the “Emergency Contacts” section.
  • Click “Edit” to view the information for each emergency contact, and verify and/or update this information.
  • Click “Save” at the bottom of the page and “Return to Emergency Contacts” to review your other emergency contacts.

  • During an emergency, the latest updates and decisions of the University’s Emergency Operations Committee including class cancellations, campus closures, and any instructions to the University community are posted and updated regularly.
  • The site also lists disaster awareness information that provides instructions as to how the University community should respond in various emergency situations.

  • During an emergency, this number is updated with the latest information and decisions of the University’s Emergency Operations Committee.

Emergency Road Conditions number: (310) 506-ROAD (7623)

  • This number is updated with the latest road and class closures pertaining to Pepperdine University’s campuses.
