Shelter In Place Lifted Again – Update #11
While the Franklin Fire continues to burn in the Santa Monica mountains, active flames remain diminished on the campus, with a few spot fires, and periodic hot spots, all of which are being addressed by fire personnel. Accordingly, last night’s shelter-in-place protocol for the Malibu campus community is lifted as of 6:30am. Breakfast will be served in Waves Cafe between 7:30am and 9:30am.
As a reminder about the ongoing power outage, Southern California Edison will seek confirmation from response agencies to inspect their circuits before restoring power, which will hopefully occur today.
Current road conditions are noted below, but these change rapidly:
- Malibu Canyon Road remains closed from Mulholland Drive to PCH;
- Topanga Canyon Boulevard remains closed to all but local traffic;
- PCH is closed from Topanga Canyon Boulevard to Kanan Dume Road, with exit access from John Tyler Drive. Law enforcement is allowing exit onto PCH, but likely may not permit re-entry back to campus.
