Updates to Pepperdine’s COVID-19 Protocols

Posted on

As the federal designation of the COVID-19 public health emergency comes to an end, the University recognizes the cooperation of its many students, faculty and staff members, and visitors with evolving COVID-19 protocols since the beginning of the pandemic. Your participation in maintaining the health and safety of the campus community continues to be paramount to successfully navigating through the pandemic, and the University is grateful for the many partnerships throughout campus that facilitated our progress through the pandemic’s various stages together.

As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Department of Public Health, and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) have retired the majority of their COVID-19 prevention protocols, they have shifted from a strategy of public mandates to one of personal individual responsibility. Likewise, effective May 22, 2023, Pepperdine University will retire its current COVID-19 vaccination policy and strongly recommend the COVID-19 vaccine for students, faculty, and staff. Some international programs may have differing requirements depending upon specific country rules; contact International Programs for program-specific requirements. Additionally, because LACDPH has evolved its guidance,  Pepperdine will update its COVID-19 protocols including isolation, close contact requirements, contact tracing, testing options, and reporting dashboards. Lastly, most COVID-19 signage from Pepperdine campuses will be removed.

Details on these changes can be found on the University’s COVID-19 website. Please contact the University’s COVID-19 Information Line via email at covid19info@pepperdine.edu with any questions.
