Malibu Canyon Road Reopened
Los Angeles County officials have reopened Malibu Canyon Road after the closure this weekend. Topanga Canyon remains closed due to a rockslide. All other routes to campus are open.
Normal operations, including in-person classes, continue at the Malibu campus today and are expected to continue throughout the week.
Employees and students are encouraged to drive slowly and carefully and remain informed about conditions for Pepperdine’s Southern California campuses by utilizing the following resources:

Malibu Canyon to Remain Closed Until Monday Afternoon
The County of Los Angeles has closed Malibu Canyon Road between Piuma Road and Pacific Coast Highway to clear the debris from an earlier rockslide and complete further actions. Currently, officials anticipate re-opening the road by 3 PM tomorrow, April15.
Pepperdine University’s Malibu campus will remain open for normal campus operations, including in-person classes for all schools.
As a reminder, Topanga Canyon remains closed. Community members should use alternate routes to access the campus on Monday. Kanan Dume Road and Pacific Coast Highway north and south of the campus are currently open. PCH north from Big Rock to Sunset has periods where the right lane is closed, and traffic is shifted.
Community members are encouraged to drive slowly and carefully, leave plenty of extra time for travel, and remain informed about conditions for Pepperdine’s Southern California campuses by utilizing the resources below:

Rockslide Impacts Malibu Canyon
The California Highway Patrol has informed the University that a rockslide on Malibu Canyon Road near the tunnel has left rocks in the roadway, particularly on the southbound lanes. It is possible officials may at least temporarily close the road to clear the debris and complete further actions.
