Fatal Accident on Pacific Coast Highway

The University is aware of a fatal car accident that occurred on Pacific Coast Highway yesterday evening, October 17, 2023, around 8:30 PM. Following initial reports from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), we understand that Pepperdine students may have been involved. As we await further details from the investigation, we pray for our community and those affected by this tragic event. The University will provide updates as we receive additional information.

Malibu Canyon Reopened

Malibu Canyon is now open following this morning’s traffic accident related closure. Malibu Canyon Closed

Due to a traffic accident and the associated investigation, Malibu Canyon Road is currently closed. Law enforcement has indicated the road may be closed for an extended period of time. The closure begins just north of the Seaver Drive intersection for northbound traffic and at Mulholland Highway for southbound traffic. Update Regarding Washington, DC, Campus due to Escaped Inmate Nearby

In alignment with local law enforcement guidance, Pepperdine’s Washington DC campus is lifting its shelter in place. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to continue using caution if leaving the campus as the escapee remains at large.
