Full PCH Reopening Delayed

Posted on

Officials in Los Angeles have delayed the scheduled full reopening of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Some parts of the PCH closure area are accessible from Malibu, but roadblocks are reported to still be in place on the south end near Santa Monica for those trying to commute to Pepperdine’s Malibu campus.

All community members are encouraged to stay informed as road conditions continue to change, sometimes without advance notice. While PCH is in this reopening phase, drivers will experience slower traffic than usual and should allow extra time for commuting to and from campus, or consider alternative routes. Even when fully open, PCH will have only a single lane in each direction for the time being.

Greater Los Angeles road conditions can be viewed online at www.sigalert.com. As changes are announced to roads near the Malibu campus, updates will be made to the Road Conditions Hotline at 310.506.7623 (ROAD).

While this will provide direct access to Pepperdine’s Malibu Campus from Santa Monica / Los Angeles along the coast, commuters using this route should expect traffic related delays. Officials recommend anyone who does not have an essential need to be on PCH should avoid the area to minimize traffic.
