Pepperdine Monitoring Wildfires – Update #3

The Woolsey and Hill fires continue, and flames have jumped to the south side of the 101 in some locations. Smoke from the fires can be seen on campus. The Malibu campus is currently experiencing a campus-wide power outage which is also affecting Calabasas, Malibu, and other surrounding areas.  

The University is monitoring the situation very closely and is in touch with fire and other officials.  We may need to relocate the community to our shelter-in-place locations (which are the Tyler Campus Center and the Firestone Fieldhouse).  In the event we begin these protocols, Housing and Residence Life representatives will be main points of contact for information and instructions.  We will also be sending notifications via Everbridge, our mass communication system which will attempt to connect with you via email, text message, or by phone.  You may not always receive these messages or get them in a timely manner if the power is out. This is why messaging through Housing and Residence Life representatives will be so important.
