Update #4: Pepperdine Monitoring Wildfire Activity

Posted on

Pepperdine officials continue to monitor wildfires in southern California. The Easy Fire in Simi Valley has now grown to 1,300 acres forcing some mandatory evacuations in that area. Forecasters believe today’s most intense winds have passed, but windy conditions will continue, and gusts of 40-60 MPH may still occur. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 6 PM tomorrow evening.

Please be advised of the following:

  • Community members whose homes are affected by the fire or road closures should follow the directions of their local governmental agencies.
  • The latest road condition information is available on the University’s Road Condition hotline at 310.506.ROAD (7623).
  • Commuter students whose residences may be impacted by the fires and need a place to stay are encouraged to contact the Housing and Residence Life office for assistance by calling 310.506.7586.
  • The latest information from Pepperdine’s EOC is also available on the University’s Emergency Information Page or on the emergency hotline at 888.286.5659.
