Malibu Campus Campus Power Outage Due to Equipment Malfunction

Due to an electrical equipment malfunction at approximately 10:30 PM last night, the Malibu campus is experiencing a partial power outage. Southern California Edison has responded and is working with University officials to address the issue, but doing so will result in another power outage today for the majority of campus. This outage is estimated to begin at 10 AM, and expect power to be restored to all areas of the Malibu campus by 5 PM today. 

Impacted buildings by today’s outage are listed below and include estimated times when the power will be restored:

  • Student Housing Areas – Estimated Restoration Time – 2 PM: Residence Halls 1 through 8 and 10 through 21, Rockwell Towers, Lovernich Apartments, and Seaside Residence Hall.
  • Main Campus Buildings/Areas Estimated Restoration Time – 2 PM: Payson Library, Keck Science Center, Stauffer Chapel, Tyler Campus Center 
  • Athletics Buildings/Areas Estimated Restoration Time – 2  PM: Runnels Recreation Village, including Firestone Fieldhouse, Runnels Memorial Pool and Pool House, Eddy D. Field Stadium, Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center, Harilela International Tennis Stadium, Tari Frahm Rokus Field, and Helen Field Heritage Hall.
  • Main Campus Buildings/Areas Estimated Restoration Time – 5 PM RAC/Appleby Center, Cultural Arts Center, Smothers Theatre, Music Building, Black Family Plaza Classrooms, and Elkins Auditorium 

Areas not listed above are not anticipated to have any impact from the power outage. Updates will be posted as they are available on the University Emergency Information Page at emergency.pepperdine.edu.
