Heightened Security on Campus

Posted on Updated on

This evening during a football game played at the Colosseum in Los Angeles, between the University of Southern California and Notre Dame University, a patron found a handwritten note purportedly indicating a potential planned “shooting at school” on Sunday, November 27th. The note mentions four higher education institutions in the Southern California area, including Pepperdine University. After discussing with the Los Angeles Police Department, while we do not currently view this as a highly credible threat, out of an abundance of caution and to be transparent in communications, we are alerting our community for awareness. As we would for any such situation, Pepperdine continues to work with law enforcement and has put in place a number of additional security measures, which the community may notice, and our security teams remain on heightened alert.
