Update #4: Pepperdine Monitoring Wildfire Activity

Pepperdine officials continue to monitor wildfires in southern California. The Easy Fire in Simi Valley has now grown to 1,300 acres forcing some mandatory evacuations in that area. Forecasters believe today’s most intense winds have passed, but windy conditions will continue, and gusts of 40-60 MPH may still occur. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 6 PM tomorrow evening.

Please be advised of the following:

  • Community members whose homes are affected by the fire or road closures should follow the directions of their local governmental agencies. 
  • The latest road condition information is available on the University’s Road Condition hotline at 310.506.ROAD (7623).
  • Commuter students whose residences may be impacted by the fires and need a place to stay are encouraged to contact the Housing and Residence Life office for assistance by calling 310.506.7586.
  • The latest information from Pepperdine’s EOC is also available on the University’s Emergency Information Page or on the emergency hotline at 888.286.5659. 

Classes to be Held at Calabasas Campus Today

Classes will be held as regularly scheduled at the Calabasas campus for today, October 30, 2019. The Calabasas campus is currently closed and will reopen for classes at 3:30 PM. Students who may experience difficulty traveling to campus and are unable to attend classes this evening should contact their professors directly.  

All other campuses are open, operations are normal, and classes are in session as regularly scheduled.

The EOC continues to monitor wildfire activity in southern California. There are no additional updates at this time. Our next update will be emailed to the community at approximately 1 PM.

Update #3: Pepperdine Monitoring Wildfire Activity

Pepperdine officials continue to monitor wildfires in southern California and have received reports that forward progress on the Mureau fire has been stopped. The Calabasas campus is currently closed for administrative staff.  All other campuses remain open and classes are in session as regularly scheduled. The EOC is evaluating the ongoing impact of wildfire activity on the Calabasas campus, and a decision on Calabasas classes for this evening will be sent to the community by 1 PM.
