Calabasas Campus Closed Due to Wildfire Activity

The EOC has decided to close the Calabasas campus for staff. Calabasas staff are encouraged to work from home for the remainder of the work day.  

A decision regarding this evening’s classes at the campus will be made and communicated by 1 PM today.

Please be advised of the following:

  • Community members whose homes are affected by the fire or road closures should follow the directions of their local governmental agencies. 
  • The latest road condition information is available on the University’s Road Condition hotline at 310.506.ROAD (7623).
  • The latest information from Pepperdine’s EOC is also available on the University’s Emergency Information Page or on the emergency hotline at 888.286.5659. 

Update #2: Pepperdine Monitoring Wildfire Activity

Pepperdine officials continue to monitor wildfires in southern California including the recently ignited Mureau Fire in Calabasas. Los Angeles County Fire will begin using Alumni Park to support air operations. The Malibu, Encino, and West Los Angeles campuses remain open and classes are in session as regularly scheduled. The EOC is currently evaluating the impact of wildfire activity on the Calabasas campus. 

Commuter students whose residences may be impacted by the fires and need a place to stay are encouraged to contact the Housing and Residence Life office for assistance by calling 310.506.7586.

Pepperdine Continues to Monitor Wildfire Activity

The EOC continues to monitor wildfire activity in southern California. Nothing has materially changed since our last email an hour ago. Our next update will be emailed to the community at approximately 11:30 AM. 

Update #1: Pepperdine Monitoring Wildfire Activity

Pepperdine officials are continuing to monitor wildfire activity and Red Flag conditions in Southern California. Fires are not currently affecting any University campus. Campuses are open and classes are in session as regularly scheduled. 

Commuter students whose residences may be impacted by the fires and need a place to stay are encouraged to contact the Housing and Residence Life office for assistance by calling 310.506.7586.

The Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) will update the University community approximately every two hours throughout the day or more immediately as necessary by conditions.
