Active Shooter at Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks – Update #2

At approximately 11:15 PM yesterday evening, an active shooter opened fired at Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, California. The University has learned that multiple Pepperdine students were at the venue at the time of the shooting, including students from Seaver College and the School of Law. University officials have been working on site with law enforcement to confirm their safety and well-being, and our prayers and condolences are with everyone impacted by this senseless act of violence.

At this time, classes will be held as scheduled for today, November 8, 2018. Students who need to adjust their class schedules today as a result of yesterday’s event are encouraged to do so.

In this time of tragedy, the University is committed to assisting members of our community impacted by this event.  Please note the following resources are available to you:

  • Students may contact the Counseling Center at 310.506.4210 or student.counseling.center@pepperdine.edu. The Counseling Center provides free, confidential emotional/psychological support to all Pepperdine students.
  • Faculty and staff may access counseling services through their Employee Assistance Program. Details are available on the HR website or by contacting HR at 310.506.4397.

A prayer service for the campus community has been scheduled for today at noon in Smothers Theatre.
