Malibu Canyon Road is closed in both directions between Civic Center Way and Piuma Road due to a rock slide that occurred yesterday evening. An estimated time to reopen is currently unknown. Topanga Canyon Road is closed between Grand View Drive and Pacific Coast Highway due to a mudslide. All other major access routes to the Malibu campus are open.
The Malibu campus is open and operating, and classes will be held today as regularly scheduled. Drivers are urged to make personal safety their first priority, using caution and good judgment when considering travel along the roads leading to campus as fog, rocks, mud, and debris may be encountered. At this time the least vulnerable route to campus is Pacific Coast Highway from the south.
The University will continue to monitor road conditions, and any critical changes will be shared on the Road Conditions Hotline at 310.506.ROAD. Community members are advised to regularly check the hotline before traveling to campus, especially during inclement weather conditions.
